بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Today in the panel discussion with the first years, i was so nervous that they would ask me about community medicine that i would not be able to answer. Instead, one of them asked me a question that's really out of topic:
"Macamana nak elakkan tidur dlm lecture? Saya nak cara yg luarbiasa sikit sbb dah byk tips saya dpt tapi tak berkesan."
So, i answered him with only normal answers. Hah, falling asleep during lectures is really something which have no absolute cure. Even scientist nowadays are uncertain about the real absolute function of sleep. Anyhow, i googled and these are what i have found out:
Staying Awake in Lecture Hall. This is can be a really tough one. The best way to handle this is with multiple tactics:
Don't do these things unless you want to fall out of your chair snoring and drooling:
Oh, i think i've read about preventing yourself from sleep during lectures somewhere before and it said just about the same thing as stated above.
And urm, now juniors know me. One of the juniors even greeted me at the Gami' Ibrahim, a boy. You know, like giving a sign of acknowledgement. He just said "Kak." Yeah, but i would have preferred him saying nothing at all. Even for the girls. Leave me alone, ahha. It's not that i don't want to be disturbed or anything. I'm more than happy to help the juniors with anything. It's just that, i like my anonymomity. I like the back seat. I would have say no when i was asked to be one of the panel, plus it's for community medicine. But then, i was told that i am the 7th person to be asked. I couldn't say no. Hey, come on lah. Support our friends in The Academic Bureau.
Ok, that's all for now. Until next time, wassalam.

Staying Awake in Lecture Hall. This is can be a really tough one. The best way to handle this is with multiple tactics:
- If allowed, bring coffee, discreet snacks, and gum.
- Even if you are not a note taker, start writing down everything the teacher is saying to keep your mind alert.
- Move as much as you can. Tap your foot or bounce your leg. Switch position in your chair frequently. Stretch. Move your head. Tap your finger.
- Pain. This is kind of an emergency procedure. If you can't stay awake consider pinching yourself. I know it's a little strange, but pain can keep you awake.
- Stimulating Thoughts: think of something that makes you happy or makes you feel good. I'll leave it at that.
- Online activity: this wasn't around when I was in college, but I would imagine if you're in the back of the class you could surf the web, email your friends, and read Dumb Little Man
- Entertain Yourself: see if you can summon your extrasensory powers by willing someone to look at you.
Don't do these things unless you want to fall out of your chair snoring and drooling:
- Rest your head in your hand.
- Rest close your eyes.
- Lay your head down.
